Design of a Parisian apartment in vintage style
The vintage style in the interior of the dwellings is most often used by residents of large cities or even megacities. After all, after a noisy and dusty city, the opportunity to plunge into the lived-in, peaceful and cozy atmosphere of your own home is worth a lot. But how to resist and not use an antique piece of furniture in your home if you live in a city with the most popular flea market in Europe and many antique shops? In fact, in order to decorate your home or one of the rooms in vintage style, it is not necessary to use all the furniture and decor exclusively from the past era (it is believed that a thing is vintage if it is over 30 but less than 60 years old). Enough of a pair of "bright representatives" of the vintage fraternity, whether it is a piece of furniture or an original decor and a room with modern finishes and appliances, will look harmonious, the atmosphere will become more comfortable due to the integration of retro things.
We bring to your attention a design project of a Parisian apartment decorated in vintage style. This is a two-room apartment, one of the rooms of which is a kind of studio, which includes segments of the living room, dining room, kitchen and library. First, let’s take a closer look at the living area, represented by an extensive selection of upholstered furniture of various modifications. Dark green and lilac velor upholstery looks great against the background of snow-white walls.
The coloring of a large soft sofa made a little frivolity and romanticism. The floral print of the upholstery not only diversified the color palette of the room, but also made the character of the living room easier, mischievous, attractive.
A small coffee table is also not young, its snow-white paint peeling in many places. But repainting a vintage thing is bad manners. Such furnishings are sometimes obtained from modern models that are specially made old. It is a pity that in this case the interior element will not have its own story, but such a piece of furniture will look very organic in the vintage design of the room.
One of the walls of the living room is decorated with a built-in shelving system with snow-white open shelves and hinged cabinets. Even a small dressing table (which, if desired, can be a workplace) with a mirror in an old carved frame was able to be placed in the storage area.
The room has very large windows and high ceilings, as a result, the room is flooded with sunlight for most of the daylight hours. Complete with snow-white wall decoration, the space visually seems larger. Despite the functional workload, the room does not look cluttered (which is almost the main danger when designing a room in vintage style).
With just a step, we can get their living area into the dining room, which is a logical continuation of the kitchen. If earlier the boundaries between functional segments were very arbitrary, then in this place we see the division in the flooring. Of course, the use of porcelain stoneware as a floor cladding in an area with temperature extremes and high humidity is much more practical than a wooden floor board.
The dining group is represented by vintage pieces of furniture - a massive table with drawers and chairs with high backs. Perhaps this is the kind of furniture you saw in the homes of your grandmothers. It is such pieces of furniture that, indeed, are able to serve the owners faithfully for a long period of time.
Such dining tables do not even want to cover with a tablecloth. Surely in every crevice and crack of the countertop its own little story is hidden. Vintage wooden furniture is very harmoniously adjacent to modern furniture made in white tones.
The kitchen space is decorated quite modernly - the gray facades of the cabinets are interspersed with household appliances and storage systems. The sheen of stainless steel enhances the effect. At the same time, there is no conflict between furniture made to order from modern materials and furniture purchased on flea markets or antique Internet blockages.
The second room of the Paris apartment is more modest in size and carries only the functions of a room for rest and sleep - this is a bedroom in a vintage style. The large bed is covered with a handmade bedspread; bright pillows have a similar origin. It is in such rooms that products made by oneself are appropriate. The head of the bed is decorated with an old carpet, the attrition of which very clearly indicates the age of the decor. Despite the completely white walls of the room with high ceilings, it looks convenient, comfortable and cozy. And this happens not without the help of vintage things with a rich history.
