Unpresentable and nothing, at first sight, unremarkable aloe (or agave) - this is a whole home pharmacy that allows you to provide yourself and loved ones first aid in many unforeseen situations without unnecessary costs and problems.

With proper storage of agave leaves, the concentration of nutrients increases. Many are looking for the best ways to store this product in order to get a lethal dose of vitamins and enhanced therapeutic effect (the healing properties of aloe are described in detail here).

How to save a cut leaf in room conditions?

To preserve the agave, the following conditions must be considered:

  1. Vitamins and nutrients under the influence of light are destroyed and lost. A useful tool will begin to deteriorate. Keep it in the dark.
  2. To increase the shelf life of this product, you need a tightly closed container. When oxygen enters, the product will begin to oxidize and exhale.
  3. Cut leaves in the air, and even at room temperature will not stand for a day. Existing valuable moisture will evaporate and dry, thereby losing its healing properties. Therefore, storage of the agave in room conditions is not recommended.
Agave leaves can be dried, then the period of use will increase to 2 years. You can store such a product at a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, having previously wrapped it in fabric or paper bags.

In the fridge

Keeping aloe leaves is best done in the refrigerator. To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. A week before the proposed assembly, it is recommended not to water the plant.
  2. The leaves are cut to the very base, washed thoroughly and dried with a clean towel, do not press on the agave, so as not to squeeze the juice.
  3. The prepared product is wrapped with cling film so that there is no oxygen left in it.
  4. Folded leaves are put in the refrigerator, where the temperature is 4-8 degrees above zero.
  5. Leave for 10-12 days.

How long can leaves be stored in the refrigerator? In this way, the shelf life of aloe leaves will be approximately 1 month. Long-term storage of the product does not spoil the beneficial properties, but increases them. This is due to the fact that excess moisture evaporates from the leaves, and the juice becomes thicker and more concentrated.

Is it possible to freeze in a freezer?

The freezer will keep the healthy product for much longer. But having pulled out and thawed the aloe, it will become watery and lose some of its beneficial properties. The resulting ice cubes can be used for washing.

Frozen leaflets are stored at a temperature of -5 degrees Celsius. Shelf life is increased to 1 year.
